I remember visiting my grandparents up the street from her and walking past seeing Reg in his coveralls. I always thought as a child she must have been a very rich lady to always have a handy man at her home. My mom and I had the chance to share this story with her shortly after Reg's passing and she had quite a laugh at it. Velma was always Mrs. Stewart to me but she was always very kind and happy.

Velma Ruth Stewart Obituary - Peterborough, ON

I don't think I ever saw her without a smile. She and Reg are part of many fond memories I have on Raymond growing up as a kid. I also remember her having suckers for us all the time.

I'm going to miss her but will always remember her as well as Reg. Much love to the family. Kate Olliffe Cavanagh Whitnall.

Dear Lori and Greg, I was so very sad to learn of your mom's passing. Your mom was a wonderful and gracious person. We had so many conversations and many laughs sitting at her kitchen table over many years. I will miss her deeply, and remember her with love. May God bless you both and bring you peace.

Velma Stover Obituary

I always enjoyed time spent with Velma and my favourite memory of Velma was her love of laughter and her open friendly manner. I hope that your memories of her will bring you comfort at this time and always. Betty Borg. Velma was a lovely lady. I have fond memories of singing in the choir and Knox Church with her.

I also worked at Sears with her for many years. My grandfather had just spent the last four months struggling for his life in a hospital room, and the effects of pneumonia, heart failure, and septic shock had transformed him into a person I barely recognized. As he entered our home, I stood back and watched his heroic efforts to take a small step and I listened to his humble attempts to utter a simple word.

I was overwhelmed with sorrow and hopelessness. Over the next few weeks, I watched and waited for improvement. I saw none. Instead, I saw my grandfather unable to shower, shave, or dress himself without help from my father or uncles.

I saw my grandfather unable to remember what he had eaten, unable to remember my name, and unable to remember when to take his medicines. I kept looking for the grandfather I had once known, but found only a weak, fragile, and confused person. I will miss her greatly. Mike, Cori and boys I know that this is a hadr time for you, if you need anything you know to just call. Posted by: April Lochrie.

I'm so sorry for your lost. I thought you might find it interesting that the night that Velma passed I was visited in my dreams by Mom, I'm sure she came to hold Velma's hand as she passed and to hel. Posted by: Tammy Willet. I will miss Aunt Velma's smile. She always seemed to be in such good spirits, despite her declining health over the past several years. She was generous. Posted by: Lorie Oldham.
